There are a number of alternative dispute resolution procedures, and mediation is the most used process. In this process, a neutral mediator attempts to work with the parties to resolve the dispute in their family law case. As a neutral, the mediator's role is to help the parties find some middle ground and compromise. The neutral cannot choose sides and often brings creative solutions to the problems at hand. Jodi McShan and Samantha Anderson all provide an understanding and experienced ear to both sides.
Virtually all issues can go into mediation, including children and property issues. Jodi McShan and Samantha Anderson each have extensive experience with family law cases. Our attorneys are a strong advocate of mediation as it gives the parties have control of the resolution of their case. If the case goes to a judge, everyone is at the mercy of the judge's ruling. In mediation, the parties can determine the outcome of their case and their lives after the case is done.
It is becoming more common for couples to go to mediation prior to even filing for divorce. Jodi McShan and Samantha Anderson are happy to work with parties before or after a petition has been filed, whether a party is represented by an attorney or not (called being pro se). Our attorneys are able to conduct Zoom or in-person mediations either at our office in Dallas, Texas or another location.
